What Is It:
Modelmates is a translucent and water soluble weathering dye, available in aerosols and as a liquid in glass jars. They makes things look dirty, old and weathered. Use on many types of materials such as plastic, card, wood, plaster and metal. After drying, smudge and wipe Modelmates with a damp cotton bud or kitchen roll to remove some of the dye and create realistic weathering effects. For interior use mainly, but can be used externally if sealed with a suitable fine matt varnish.
Aerosol Spray Cans
The aerosols have a very fine spray and the dye gets into the smallest of indents. They are quick and easy to use, just shake them and spray. There’s no cleaning involved and the aerosol cans never block up. Apply fine coats, smudging each coat to remove a little dry dye. Use on models such as wagons and coaches, and to landscapes, especially to ballast and gravel, grass and trees. The more coats of Modelmates applied, the darker the colour gets, this is because it is a dye and not an acrylic paint. Find out more about Weathering Aerosol Spray Cans here.
Weathering Liquid
Ready Mixed Weathering Liquid In Glass Jars. Weathering liquid is a water soluble, translucent ready mixed dye (or ink), that makes things look dirty, old and weathered. Available in the same colours as the aerosol cans, but weathering liquid is slightly thicker, more concentrated and a little more matt. Use straight from the jar into an airbrush, or into a pot for application by brush. Find out more about Weathering Liquid here.
